Autumn

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

Psalms 6:2

Trees mourn
as her summer
children depart.

Sparrows huddle
to plot
winter vacation.

Daisies faint,
insensible to
cunning frost.

Emerald grass,
sequined with
red, yellow, and orange,
welcome cooling nights.

Shadows surrender
to autumn memory,
future and
long past.
